Epistle
Chant
The Commons service — the class’s own, not the day’s. Sung where the day prints no propers of its own: 1 of the 17 dated days below. 11 print their own propers, and those are what is sung; on 5 the Festal Cycle appoints a different Epistle that day.
God is wonderful in His Saints, / the God of Israel.
Verse: Bless God in the Churches, the Lord out of Israel's wellsprings.
Verse: I waited patiently for the Lord; He inclined to me, and heard my cry.
Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous! Praise befits the just!
Where these Epistles are read — 20
Reading a class’s Epistle is not the same as belonging to the class. The Apostol appoints §233 on 18 August because that day’s service is copied from December 10, not because Florus and Laurus are Confessors.
