The Commons service — the class’s own, not the day’s. Sung where the day prints no propers of its own: 1 of the 12 dated days below. 10 print their own propers, and those are what is sung; on 1 the Festal Cycle appoints a different Epistle that day.
The Lord has shown all the wonders of His will / to all the Saints who are in His land.
Verse: I keep the Lord always before me; for He is at my right hand, and I shall not be moved.
The righteous cried and the Lord heard them, and delivered them out of all their troubles.
Verse: Many are the afflictions of the righteous; but the Lord delivers them out of them all.
Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous! Praise befits the just!
Where these Epistles are read — 14
Reading a class’s Epistle is not the same as belonging to the class. The Apostol appoints §233 on 18 August because that day’s service is copied from December 10, not because Florus and Laurus are Confessors.
