Epistle

§ 1561 Corinthians 14:20-25
§ 314Hebrews 6:13-20
§ 57James 5:10-16our data resolves this to § 57e James 5:10-20

The book gives no rule for choosing. It prints these Epistles for this class separated by “or” and says nothing about which to take. All are kept; the choice is the celebrant’s.

Chant

The Commons service — the class’s own, not the day’s. Sung where the day prints no propers of its own: 1 of the 4 dated days below. 3 print their own propers, and those are what is sung.

Prokeimenon, Tone 4

Thou art a priest for ever / after the order of Melchizedek.

Verse: The Lord said to my Lord: "Sit Thou at My right hand until I make Thine enemies Thy footstool."

Alleluia, Tone 5

Moses and Aaron were among His priests, and Samuel among them that called upon His Name.

Verse: Light dawns for the righteous, and joy for the upright in heart.

Communion Hymn

The righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance. He shall not fear evil tidings.

Where these Epistles are read — 7

Reading a class’s Epistle is not the same as belonging to the class. The Apostol appoints §233 on 18 August because that day’s service is copied from December 10, not because Florus and Laurus are Confessors.
