1 Thessalonians 4:1–12 § 269
Brethren, we urge and exhort in the Lord Jesus that you should abound more and more, just as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God; for you know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus. For this is the will of God, even your sanctification: that you should abstain from fornication; that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God; that no man should take advantage of and defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also forewarned you and testified. For God did not call us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness. Therefore he who rejects this does not reject man, but God, who has also given us His Holy Spirit. But concerning brotherly love you have no need that I should write unto you, for you yourselves are taught by God to love one another; and indeed you do so toward all the brethren who are in all Macedónia. But we beseech you, brethren, that you increase more and more; that you also aspire to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you, that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and that you may have lack of nothing.

Theotokos
Brethren, even the first covenant had ordinances of divine service and the earthly sanctuary. For a tabernacle was prepared: the first part, in which was the candlestand, and the table, and the showbread, which is called the Sanctuary; and behind the second veil, the part of the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of All, which had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid on all sides with gold, in which were the golden pot that had the manna, and Aaron’s rod that budded, and the tablets of the covenant; and over it were the Cherubim of glory shadowing the mercy seat; of which we cannot now speak in detail. Now when these things had been thus ordained, the priests always went into the first part of the tabernacle, accomplishing the service of God. And they brought unto him also infants, that he would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them.
Προσέφερον δὲ αὐτῷ καὶ τὰ βρέφη ἵνα αὐτῶν ἅπτηται· καὶ ἰδόντες οἱ μαθηταὶ ἐπετίμησαν αὐτοῖς.
[Заⷱ҇ 90] Приноша́хꙋ же къ немꙋ̀ и҆ младе́нцы, да и҆́хъ ко́снетсѧ: ви́дѣвше же ᲂу҆чн҃цы̀ запрети́ша и҆̀мъ.
But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς προσκαλεσάμενος αὐτὰ εἶπεν· ἄφετε τὰ παιδία ἔρχεσθαι πρός με καὶ μὴ κωλύετε αὐτά· τῶν γὰρ τοιούτων ἐστὶν ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ Θεοῦ.

Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.
ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, ὃς ἐὰν μὴ δέξηται τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ Θεοῦ ὡς παιδίον, οὐ μὴ εἰσέλθῃ εἰς αὐτήν.
а҆ми́нь бо гл҃ю ва́мъ: и҆́же а҆́ще не прїи́метъ црⷭ҇твїѧ бж҃їѧ ꙗ҆́кѡ ѻ҆троча̀, не и҆́мать вни́ти въ нѐ.
And they that heard it said, Who then can be saved?
εἶπον δὲ οἱ ἀκούσαντες· καὶ τίς δύναται σωθῆναι;
Рѣ́ша же слы́шавшїи: то̀ кто̀ мо́жетъ сп҃се́нъ бы́ти;
And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.
ὁ δὲ εἶπε· τὰ ἀδύνατα παρὰ ἀνθρώποις δυνατὰ παρὰ τῷ Θεῷ ἐστιν.
Ѻ҆́нъ же речѐ: невозмѡ́жнаѧ ᲂу҆ человѣ̑къ возмѡ́жна сꙋ́ть ᲂу҆ бг҃а.
Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee.
εἶπε δὲ ὁ Πέτρος· ἰδοὺ ἡμεῖς ἀφήκαμεν πάντα καὶ ἠκολουθήσαμέν σοι.

And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake,
ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι οὐδείς ἐστιν ὃς ἀφῆκεν οἰκίαν ἢ γονεῖς ἢ ἀδελφοὺς ἢ γυναῖκα ἢ τέκνα ἕνεκεν τῆς βασιλείας τοῦ Θεοῦ,
Ѻ҆́нъ же речѐ и҆̀мъ: а҆ми́нь гл҃ю ва́мъ, ꙗ҆́кѡ никто́же є҆́сть, и҆́же ѡ҆ста́витъ до́мъ, и҆лѝ роди́тєли, и҆лѝ бра́тїю, и҆лѝ сєстры̀, и҆лѝ женꙋ̀, и҆лѝ ча́да, црⷭ҇твїѧ ра́ди бж҃їѧ,
Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting.

Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.
Ἐγένετο δὲ ἐν τῷ πορεύεσθαι αὐτοὺς καὶ αὐτὸς εἰσῆλθεν εἰς κώμην τινά. γυνὴ δέ τις ὀνόματι Μάρθα ὑπεδέξατο αὐτὸν εἰς τὸν οἶκον αὐτῆς.

And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word.
καὶ τῇδε ἦν ἀδελφὴ καλουμένη Μαρία, ἣ καὶ παρακαθίσασα παρὰ τοὺς πόδας τοῦ Ἰησοῦ ἤκουε τὸν λόγον αὐτοῦ.

But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.
ἡ δὲ Μάρθα περιεσπᾶτο περὶ πολλὴν διακονίαν· ἐπιστᾶσα δὲ εἶπε· Κύριε, οὐ μέλει σοι ὅτι ἡ ἀδελφή μου μόνην με κατέλιπε διακονεῖν; εἰπὲ οὖν αὐτῇ ἵνα μοι συναντιλάβηται.

And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:
ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ εἶπεν αὐτῇ ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Μάρθα Μάρθα, μεριμνᾷς καὶ τυρβάζῃ περὶ πολλά·
Ѿвѣща́въ же і҆и҃съ речѐ є҆́й: ма́рѳо, ма́рѳо, пече́шисѧ и҆ мо́лвиши ѡ҆ мно́зѣ,
But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
ἑνὸς δέ ἐστι χρεία· Μαρία δὲ τὴν ἀγαθὴν μερίδα ἐξελέξατο, ἥτις οὐκ ἀφαιρεθήσεται ἀπ᾿ αὐτῆς.

Chapter 11
And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked.
Ἐγένετο δὲ ἐν τῷ λέγειν αὐτὸν ταῦτα ἐπάρασά τις γυνὴ φωνὴν ἐκ τοῦ ὄχλου εἶπεν αὐτῷ· μακαρία ἡ κοιλία ἡ βαστάσασά σε καὶ μαστοὶ οὓς ἐθήλασας.
Бы́сть же є҆гда̀ гл҃аше сїѧ̑, воздви́гши нѣ́каѧ жена̀ гла́съ ѿ наро́да, речѐ є҆мꙋ̀: бл҃же́но чре́во носи́вшее тѧ̀, и҆ сосца̑, ꙗ҆̀же є҆сѝ сса́лъ.
But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.
αὐτὸς δὲ εἶπε· μενοῦνγε μακάριοι οἱ ἀκούοντες τὸν λόγον τοῦ Θεοῦ καὶ φυλάσσοντες αὐτόν.
Ѻ҆́нъ же речѐ: тѣ́мже ᲂу҆̀бо бл҃же́ни слы́шащїи сло́во бж҃їе и҆ хранѧ́щїи є҆̀.
