§ 194
Composite 19 - Micah 4.2-3, 5; 6.2-5, 8; 5.4, 5 § 194
Thus says the Lord: From Sion will come forth the Law and the Word of the Lord from Jerusalem. And he will judge among many peoples and rebuke mighty nations in a distant land. For all the peoples will walk, each its own way, while we will walk in the name of the Lord our God for ever. Thus says the Lord Almighty: Listen hills and valleys, foundations of the earth, because the Lord has a controversy with his people; for he will dispute with Israel, saying, ‘My people, what have I done to you? Or how have I grieved you? Or how have I troubled you? Answer me. For I brought you up out of the land of Egypt, and rescued you from the house of slavery, and sent Moses and Aaron before your face. My people, what have your enemies planned against you? Was it not told you, O man, what is good? And what does the Lord seek from you, except to execute judgement, and to love mercy and to be ready to walk with the Lord your God?’ Therefore the Lord will be magnified in strength, and will shepherd his flock in peace, to the extremities of the earth.

§ 195
Composite 20 - Isaiah 55.1; 12.3-4; 55.2-13 § 195
Thus says the Lord: You who thirst, go to the water; and all who have no money, go, buy and eat and drink wine and fat without money or price. For thus says the Lord Almighty to you: My people, draw water with joy from the springs of salvation. And you will say in that day: Praise the Lord, cry his name aloud, declare his glory among the nations, call to mind that his name has been exalted. My people, hear me, and eat good things, and your soul will delight in good things. Attend with your ears and follow my ways. Listen to me and your soul will live among good things. And I will make an eternal covenant with you, and you will call upon me. And when you draw near me, let the impious abandon his ways, and the lawless man his plans; and turn back to me and I will have mercy on you and forgive your sins. For your plans are not as my plans, says the Lord; but as heaven is distant from the earth, so is my way distant from your ways, and your thoughts from my mind. For as rain or snow would come down from heaven and not return there, until it had soaked the earth, and it bring forth and bud and give seed to the sower, and bread for food, so shall my word be, which once it has come from my mouth will not return there until it has accomplished all that I willed; and I will make my ways and my commands succeed. For you will go out with joy, and be taught with gladness; for the mountains and hills will exult as they receive you with joy; and all the trees of the field will clap with their branches; and instead of the briar shall come up the cypress; instead of the nettle shall come up the myrtle; and the Lord shall be for a name and for an eternal sign, says the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel.
Proverbs 9.1-11
§ 81
Proverbs 9.1-11 § 81
Wisdom has built a house for herself, and set up seven pillars.
She has killed her beasts; she has mingled her wine in a bowl, and prepared her table.
She has sent forth her servants, calling with a loud proclamation to the feast, saying,
Whoso is foolish, let him turn aside to me: and to them that want understanding she says,
Come, eat of my bread, and drink wine which I have mingled for you.
Leave folly, that ye may reign for ever; and seek wisdom, and improve understanding by knowledge.
He that reproves evil [men] shall get dishonour to himself; and he that rebukes an ungodly [man] shall disgrace himself.
Rebuke not evil [men], lest they should hate thee: rebuke a wise [man], and he will love thee.
Give an opportunity to a wise [man], and he will be wiser: instruct a just man, and he will receive more [instruction].
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the counsel of saints is understanding: for to know the law is [the character] of a sound mind.
For in this way thou shalt live long, and years of thy life shall be added to thee.

§ 177
Composite 2 - Proverbs 10, 3, 8 § 177
The memory of a just man is praised, and the Lord’s blessing is upon his head. Blessed is one who has found wisdom; a mortal who knows understanding. To import her is better than treasures of gold and silver. She is more valuable than precious stones; nothing of value equals her worth. Justice proceeds from her mouth; she bears law and mercy on her tongue. Therefore, my children, listen to me, for I speak weighty things. And blessed is the one who keeps my ways. For my goings out are the goings out of life, and favour is prepared from the Lord. Therefore I exhort you, and utter my voice to the children of humankind. Because I, Wisdom, have prepared counsel, knowledge and understanding. I have called on them. Counsel and sureness are mine; prudence is mine, strength is mine. I love those who are my friends, while those who seek me will find grace. You innocent, then, understand cunning; you untaught, take it to heart. Listen to me, for I will speak weighty things, and I will open right things from my lips. Because my throat will meditate truth; lying lips are abominable before me. All the words of my mouth are with justice, there is nothing crooked in them nor twisted. They are all straight for those who understand, and right for those who find knowledge. For I teach you what is true, that your hope may be in the Lord and that you may be filled with spirit.

§ 84
Proverbs 10.31-11.12 § 84
Chapter 10
The mouth of the righteous drops wisdom: but the tongue of the unjust shall perish.
The lips of just men drop grace: but the mouth of the ungodly is perverse.
Chapter 11
False balances are an abomination before the Lord: but a just weight is acceptable unto him.
Wherever pride enters, there will be also disgrace: but the mouth of the lowly meditates wisdom.
When a just man dies he leaves regret: but the destruction of the ungodly is speedy, and causes joy. [See Appendix ]
[See Appendix ]
Righteousness traces out blameless paths: but ungodliness encounters unjust dealing.
The righteousness of upright men delivers them: but transgressors are caught in their own destruction.
At the death of a just man his hope does not perish: but the boast of the ungodly perishes.
A righteous man escapes from a snare, and the ungodly man is delivered up in his place.
In the mouth of ungodly men is a snare to citizens: but the understanding of righteous men is prosperous.
In the prosperity of righteous men a city prospers: [See Appendix ]
[See Appendix ] but by the mouth of ungodly men it is overthrown.
A man void of understanding sneers at [his fellow] citizens: but a sensible man is quiet.

Wisdom of Solomon 4.7-15 § 101
But though the righteous be prevented with death, yet shall he be in rest.

Yea speedily was he taken away, lest that wickedness should alter his understanding, or deceit beguile his soul.

For the bewitching of naughtiness doth obscure things that are honest; and the wandering of concupiscence doth undermine the simple mind.

For his soul pleased the Lord: therefore hasted he to take him away from among the wicked.

VERILY, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.
But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.

Acts 14:6–18
§ 34
Acts 14:6–18 § 34
In those days, Barnabas and Saul fled unto Lýstra and Dérbe, cities of Lycaonia, and unto the surrounding region; and there they preached the Gospel. And in Lýstra a certain man without strength in his feet was sitting, a cripple from his mother’s womb, who had never walked. This same [man] heard Paul speaking: who, observing him intently and seeing that he had faith to be healed, said with a loud voice, “Stand upright on thy feet!” And he leaped and walked. And when the people saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in the Lycaónian tongue, ‘The gods have come down to us in the likeness of men!” And they called Barnabas, Jupiter, and Paul, Mercurius, because he was the chief speaker. Then the priest of Zeus, whose temple was in front of their city, brought oxen and garlands to the gates, intending to sacrifice with the people. But when the Apostles Barnabas and Paul heard this, they tore their clothes and ran in among the people, crying out and saying, “Men, why are you doing these things? We also are men with the same nature as you, and preach unto you that you should turn from these vanities to the living God, Who made the heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are in them, who in times past allowed all nations to walk in their own ways. Nevertheless He did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good, gave us rain from heaven and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.” And with these sayings they could scarcely restrain the people that they had not sacrificed to them.
Hebrews 7:26–8:2 (Saints) § 318
Saints
Brethren, such a High Priest was fitting for us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; who does not need daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for His own sins and then for the people’s, for this He did once, when He offered up Himself. For the law makes men high priests which have infirmity, but the word of the oath, which came after the law, makes the Son, who is consecrated forever… Now this is the sum of the things which we have said: We have such a High Priest, who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens, a Minister of the Sanctuary and of the true Tabernacle which the Lord erected, and not man.

Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law? Why go ye about to kill me?
οὐ Μωϋσῆς δέδωκεν ὑμῖν τὸν νόμον; καὶ οὐδεὶς ἐξ ὑμῶν ποιεῖ τὸν νόμον. τί με ζητεῖτε ἀποκτεῖναι;
Не мѡѷсе́й ли дадѐ ва́мъ зако́нъ; и҆ никто́же ѿ ва́съ твори́тъ зако́на. Что̀ менѐ и҆́щете ᲂу҆би́ти;
The people answered and said, Thou hast a devil: who goeth about to kill thee?
ἀπεκρίθη ὁ ὄχλος καὶ εἶπε· δαιμόνιον ἔχεις· τίς σε ζητεῖ ἀποκτεῖναι;
Ѿвѣща̀ наро́дъ и҆ речѐ: бѣ́са ли и҆́маши; кто̀ тебѐ и҆́щетъ ᲂу҆би́ти;
Jesus answered and said unto them, I have done one work, and ye all marvel.
Moses therefore gave unto you circumcision; (not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers;) and ye on the sabbath day circumcise a man.
If a man on the sabbath day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are ye angry at me, because I have made a man every whit whole on the sabbath day?
εἰ περιτομὴν λαμβάνει ἄνθρωπος ἐν σαββάτῳ ἵνα μὴ λυθῇ ὁ νόμος Μωϋσέως, ἐμοὶ χολᾶτε ὅτι ὅλον ἄνθρωπον ὑγιῆ ἐποίησα ἐν σαββάτῳ;
а҆́ще ѡ҆брѣ́занїе прїе́млетъ человѣ́къ въ сꙋббѡ́тꙋ, да не разори́тсѧ зако́нъ мѡѷсе́овъ, на мѧ́ ли гнѣ́ваетесѧ, ꙗ҆́кѡ всего̀ человѣ́ка здра́ва сотвори́хъ въ сꙋббѡ́тꙋ;
Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.
Then said some of them of Jerusalem, Is not this he, whom they seek to kill?
Ἔλεγον οὖν τινες ἐκ τῶν Ἱεροσολυμιτῶν· οὐχ οὗτός ἐστιν ὃν ζητοῦσιν ἀποκτεῖναι;
Глаго́лахꙋ ᲂу҆̀бо нѣ́цыи ѿ і҆ерⷭ҇ли́млѧнъ: не се́й ли є҆́сть, є҆го́же и҆́щꙋтъ ᲂу҆би́ти;
But, lo, he speaketh boldly, and they say nothing unto him. Do the rulers know indeed that this is the very Christ?
καὶ ἴδε παρρησίᾳ λαλεῖ, καὶ οὐδὲν αὐτῷ λέγουσι. μήποτε ἀληθῶς ἔγνωσαν οἱ ἄρχοντες ὅτι οὗτός ἐστιν ἀληθῶς ὁ Χριστός;
и҆ сѐ, не ѡ҆бинꙋ́ѧсѧ гл҃етъ, и҆ ничесѡ́же є҆мꙋ̀ не глаго́лютъ: є҆да̀ ка́кѡ {вои́стиннꙋ} разꙋмѣ́ша кнѧ̑зи, ꙗ҆́кѡ се́й є҆́сть хрⷭ҇то́съ;
Howbeit we know this man whence he is: but when Christ cometh, no man knoweth whence he is.
Then cried Jesus in the temple as he taught, saying, Ye both know me, and ye know whence I am: and I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom ye know not.
But I know him: for I am from him, and he hath sent me.
Then they sought to take him: but no man laid hands on him, because his hour was not yet come.
Matthew 5.14-19 (Saints) § 11
Saints
Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
Hebrews 2:11–18 (Blessing of Waters) § 306
Blessing of Waters
Brethren, both He that sanctifies and they who are being sanctified are all of one, for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren, saying: “I will declare Thy name unto My brethren, in the midst of the congregation will I sing praise unto Thee.” And again: “I will put My trust in Him.” And again: “Behold, I and the children which God hath given Me.” Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release them, who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. For indeed, He took not upon Himself the nature of Angels, but He took upon Himself the seed of Abraham. Therefore, in all things He had to be made like unto His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make expiation for the sins of the people. For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to help those who are tempted.
John 5.1-4 (Blessing of Waters) § 14e
Blessing of Waters
AFTER this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.
In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.
For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.
