Apostol § 284

1 Timothy 3:14–4:5

My son Timothy, these things I write unto you, though I hope to come unto you shortly; but if I am delayed, I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the Church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of the Angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory... Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth...
