John 20.11-18 § 64
11

But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre,

12

And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.

13

And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my LORD, and I know not where they have laid him.

14

And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus.

15

Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.

16

Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.

17

Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.

18

Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the LORD, and that he had spoken these things unto her.

Divine Liturgy

1 Corinthians 1:10–18 § 124

Brethren, I beseech you by the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. For it has been declared unto me concerning you, my brethren, by those of Chloe’s household, that there are contentions among you. Now this I say, that each of you says, “I am of Paul,” or “I am of Apollos,” or “I am of Cephas,” or “I am of Christ.” Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul? I thank God that I baptized none of you but Crispus and Gaius, lest any should say that I had baptized in my own name. Yes, I also baptized the household of Stephanas. Besides, I know not whether I baptized any other. For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the Gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the Cross of Christ should be made of no effect. For the message of the Cross is foolishness to them that perish, but unto us who are being saved, it is the power of God...

2 Timothy 2:1–10 § 292 (St Panteleimon)

St Panteleimon

Prokeimenon, Tone 7

The righteous one shall rejoice in the Lord and shall set his hope on Him.

Verse: Hear my voice, O God, when I pray unto Thee!________________________________ * Until the Leavetaking.

My son Timothy, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who shall be able to teach others also. You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who chose him to be a soldier. And also if anyone competes in athletics, he is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules. It is the farmer that labors who must take the first share of the crops. Consider what I say, and may the Lord give you understanding in all things. Remember that Jesus Christ, of the seed of David, was raised from the dead according to my Gospel, for which I suffer trouble as an evildoer, even to the point of chains; but the word of God is not chained. Therefore I endure all things for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

Alleluia, Tone 4

The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree and shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

Communion Hymn

The light of Thy countenance has shown upon us, O Lord.

Matthew 14.14-22 § 58
14

And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.

15

And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals.

16

But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat.

17

And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes.

18

He said, Bring them hither to me.

19

And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

20

And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.

21

And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children.

22

And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.

John 15.17-16.2 § 52 (St Panteleimon)

St Panteleimon

Chapter 15

17

These things I command you, that ye love one another.

18

If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.

19

If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

20

Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.

21

But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me.

22

If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloak for their sin.

23

He that hateth me hateth my Father also.

24

If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father.

25

But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.

26

But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

27

And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.

Chapter 16

1

THESE things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.

2

They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.
