Brethren, I fear lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I would, and that I shall be found unto you such as you would not wish; lest there be contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, backbitings, whisperings, conceits, tumults; and lest, when I come again, my God will humble me among you, and I shall mourn for many who have sinned before and have not repented of the uncleanness, fornication, and lasciviousness which they have committed... This is the third time I am coming to you. “In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.” I told you before, and foretell you [again], as if I were present the second time, and being absent now I write to them that heretofore have sinned, and to all others, that, if I come again I will not spare ...

(Song of the Theotokos): My soul magnifies the Lord / and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior

Verse: For He has regarded the low estate of His handmaiden, for behold, henceforth all generations shall call me blessed

Brethren, let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a servant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the Cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the Name which is above every name, that at the Name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, andf things on earth, and things under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.

Καὶ ἔλεγεν αὐτοῖς· βλέπετε τί ἀκούετε. ἐν ᾧ μέτρῳ μετρεῖτε, μετρηθήσεται ὑμῖν, καὶ προστεθήσεται ὑμῖν τοῖς ἀκούουσιν.

For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath.

And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground;

Καὶ ἔλεγεν· οὕτως ἐστὶν ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ Θεοῦ, ὡς ἂν ἄνθρωπος βάλῃ τὸν σπόρον ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς,

И҆ гл҃аше: та́кѡ є҆́сть (и҆) црⷭ҇твїе бж҃їе, ꙗ҆́коже человѣ́къ вмета́етъ сѣ́мѧ въ зе́млю,

And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how.

καὶ καθεύδῃ καὶ ἐγείρηται νύκτα καὶ ἡμέραν, καὶ ὁ σπόρος βλαστάνῃ καὶ μηκύνηται ὡς οὐκ οἶδεν αὐτός.

и҆ спи́тъ, и҆ востае́тъ но́щїю и҆ дні́ю: и҆ сѣ́мѧ прозѧба́етъ и҆ расте́тъ, ꙗ҆́коже не вѣ́сть ѻ҆́нъ:

For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.

αὐτομάτη γὰρ ἡ γῆ καρποφορεῖ, πρῶτον χόρτον, εἶτα στάχυν, εἶτα πλήρη σῖτον ἐν τῷ στάχυϊ.

ѿ себє́ бо землѧ̀ плоди́тъ пре́жде травꙋ̀, пото́мъ кла́съ, та́же и҆сполнѧ́етъ пшени́цꙋ въ кла́сѣ:

But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come.

ὅταν δὲ παραδῷ ὁ καρπός, εὐθέως ἀποστέλλει τὸ δρέπανον, ὅτι παρέστηκεν ὁ θερισμός.

є҆гда́ же созрѣ́етъ пло́дъ, а҆́бїе по́слетъ се́рпъ, ꙗ҆́кѡ наста̀ жа́тва.

And he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it?

Καὶ ἔλεγε· πῶς ὁμοιώσωμεν τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ Θεοῦ; ἢ ἐν τίνι παραβολῇ παραβάλωμεν αὐτήν;

И҆ гл҃аше: чесомꙋ̀ ᲂу҆подо́бимъ црⷭ҇твїе бж҃їе; и҆лѝ ко́ей при́тчи приложи́мъ є҆̀;

It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth:

ὡς κόκκον σινάπεως, ὃς ὅταν σπαρῇ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς, μικρότερος πάντων τῶν σπερμάτων ἐστὶ τῶν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς·

ꙗ҆́кѡ зе́рно горꙋ́шично, є҆́же є҆гда̀ всѣ́ѧно бꙋ́детъ въ землѝ, мнѣ́е всѣ́хъ сѣ́менъ є҆́сть земны́хъ:

32

But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it.

καὶ ὅταν σπαρῇ, ἀναβαίνει καὶ γίνεται μείζων πάντων τῶν λαχάνων, καὶ ποιεῖ κλάδους μεγάλους, ὥστε δύνασθαι ὑπὸ τὴν σκιὰν αὐτοῦ τὰ πετεινὰ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ κατασκηνοῦν.

и҆ є҆гда̀ всѣ́ѧно бꙋ́детъ, возраста́етъ, и҆ быва́етъ бо́лѣе всѣ́хъ ѕе́лїй, и҆ твори́тъ вѣ̑тви вє́лїѧ, ꙗ҆́кѡ мощѝ под̾ сѣ́нїю є҆гѡ̀ пти́цамъ небє́снымъ вита́ти.

And with many such parables spake he the word unto them, as they were able to hear it.

Καὶ τοιαύταις παραβολαῖς πολλαῖς ἐλάλει αὐτοῖς τὸν λόγον, καθὼς ἠδύναντο ἀκούειν,

И҆ таковы́ми при́тчами мно́гими гл҃аше и҆̀мъ сло́во, ꙗ҆́коже можа́хꙋ слы́шати.

But without a parable spake he not unto them: and when they were alone, he expounded all things to his disciples.

χωρὶς δὲ παραβολῆς οὐκ ἐλάλει αὐτοῖς τὸν λόγον· κατ᾿ ἰδίαν δὲ τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ ἐπέλυε πάντα.

Без̾ при́тчи же не гл҃аше и҆̀мъ словесѐ: ѡ҆со́бь же ᲂу҆чн҃кѡ́мъ свои̑мъ сказа́ше всѧ̑.

38

Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.

Ἐγένετο δὲ ἐν τῷ πορεύεσθαι αὐτοὺς καὶ αὐτὸς εἰσῆλθεν εἰς κώμην τινά. γυνὴ δέ τις ὀνόματι Μάρθα ὑπεδέξατο αὐτὸν εἰς τὸν οἶκον αὐτῆς.

[Заⷱ҇ 54] Бы́сть же ходѧ́щымъ и҆̀мъ, и҆ са́мъ вни́де въ ве́сь нѣ́кꙋю: жена́ же нѣ́каѧ и҆́менемъ ма́рѳа прїѧ́тъ є҆го̀ въ до́мъ сво́й:

And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word.

καὶ τῇδε ἦν ἀδελφὴ καλουμένη Μαρία, ἣ καὶ παρακαθίσασα παρὰ τοὺς πόδας τοῦ Ἰησοῦ ἤκουε τὸν λόγον αὐτοῦ.

и҆ сестра̀ є҆́й бѣ̀ нарица́емаѧ марі́а, ꙗ҆́же и҆ сѣ́дши при ногꙋ̀ і҆и҃сѡвꙋ, слы́шаше сло́во є҆гѡ̀.

But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.

ἡ δὲ Μάρθα περιεσπᾶτο περὶ πολλὴν διακονίαν· ἐπιστᾶσα δὲ εἶπε· Κύριε, οὐ μέλει σοι ὅτι ἡ ἀδελφή μου μόνην με κατέλιπε διακονεῖν; εἰπὲ οὖν αὐτῇ ἵνα μοι συναντιλάβηται.

Ма́рѳа же мо́лвѧше ѡ҆ мно́зѣ слꙋ́жбѣ, ста́вши же речѐ: гдⷭ҇и, не бреже́ши ли, ꙗ҆́кѡ сестра̀ моѧ̀ є҆ди́нꙋ мѧ̀ ѡ҆ста́ви слꙋжи́ти; рцы̀ ᲂу҆̀бо є҆́й, да мѝ помо́жетъ.

41

And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:

ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ εἶπεν αὐτῇ ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Μάρθα Μάρθα, μεριμνᾷς καὶ τυρβάζῃ περὶ πολλά·

Ѿвѣща́въ же і҆и҃съ речѐ є҆́й: ма́рѳо, ма́рѳо, пече́шисѧ и҆ мо́лвиши ѡ҆ мно́зѣ,

But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

ἑνὸς δέ ἐστι χρεία· Μαρία δὲ τὴν ἀγαθὴν μερίδα ἐξελέξατο, ἥτις οὐκ ἀφαιρεθήσεται ἀπ᾿ αὐτῆς.

є҆ди́но же є҆́сть на потре́бꙋ. Марі́а же бл҃гꙋ́ю ча́сть и҆збра̀, ꙗ҆́же не ѿи́метсѧ ѿ неѧ̀.

Chapter 11

27

And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked.

Ἐγένετο δὲ ἐν τῷ λέγειν αὐτὸν ταῦτα ἐπάρασά τις γυνὴ φωνὴν ἐκ τοῦ ὄχλου εἶπεν αὐτῷ· μακαρία ἡ κοιλία ἡ βαστάσασά σε καὶ μαστοὶ οὓς ἐθήλασας.

Бы́сть же є҆гда̀ гл҃аше сїѧ̑, воздви́гши нѣ́каѧ жена̀ гла́съ ѿ наро́да, речѐ є҆мꙋ̀: бл҃же́но чре́во носи́вшее тѧ̀, и҆ сосца̑, ꙗ҆̀же є҆сѝ сса́лъ.

28

But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.

αὐτὸς δὲ εἶπε· μενοῦνγε μακάριοι οἱ ἀκούοντες τὸν λόγον τοῦ Θεοῦ καὶ φυλάσσοντες αὐτόν.

Ѻ҆́нъ же речѐ: тѣ́мже ᲂу҆̀бо бл҃же́ни слы́шащїи сло́во бж҃їе и҆ хранѧ́щїи є҆̀.
